WhatsApp posts
A clear post helps people decide to come to your event. This guide lists what to include, from the essential details to the optional ones that answer the questions people ask before they come.
What your post needs
With these 5 details, people know what they will dance, when to come, where to go and what it costs. They can plan their night, and event calendars can include your event.
- The date. The day of the week and the date.
- The start time. The time the party starts. If there is a class before the party, indicate both times.
- The venue. The name of the venue and the complete address: the street, the number, the postal code and the city.
- The dance styles. Salsa, bachata, kizomba or other styles, the most important first.
- The price. The entry price, in your post and in the description of your Facebook event. If the entry is free, write it, for example "Free entry". The agenda on latindance.be takes the price from your description.
Optional details that make a difference
Each of these details answers a question that people often ask before they decide to come.
The program
- The end time of the party.
- The names of the DJs, the teachers or the artists.
How to find the venue
- A link to the venue on a map.
- The nearest metro, tram or bus stop.
- Where to park, and if parking is free or paid.
- The entrance or the floor, when the venue is difficult to find.
Accessibility
- If the venue has an entrance at street level, or if there are stairs.
- If there are chairs or places to sit.
For people who are new
- If people can come alone.
- The levels that are welcome, for example "all levels" or "beginners welcome".
- A class for beginners before the party, with its time.
- The language of the class.
- A free first visit or an open evening, if you offer one.
Price and tickets
- Reduced prices: for students, before a certain time, or for tickets bought in advance.
- A link to buy a ticket or to reserve a place.
- If the number of places is limited.
- Payment by card, or cash only.
At the venue
- A cloakroom or lockers.
- Drinks and food.
- The dress code, if there is one.
- The type of floor, or the recommended shoes.
Outdoor events
- What happens if it rains.
- Where you publish news on the day of the event, for example in your WhatsApp group.
Photos and videos
- If the event is filmed or photographed.
Links and contact
- A link to the Facebook event, your website or your WhatsApp group.
- A name and a telephone number for questions.
The format of your post
- Start with the name of the event.
- Write the day of the week with the date, for example "Saturday 17 October".
- Write the times in 24-hour format, for example "21:00".
- Put one piece of information per line.
- Write the key facts in the text, in addition to the poster. People can then copy or translate them, and search engines can read them.
- Add a poster or a short video. It makes your post visible among other messages.
- If something changes, or if the event is cancelled, inform people immediately, in the same places as your post.
